my storyFrom a small town in Ohio, my grandmother (best friend and badass) taught me that no matter the circumstances, you determine your own success and happiness.
+ From the age of seven, I've helped support my grandmother and myself with Martha Ponn Designs. Together, we design, hand make, market and sell fine jewelry at art shows and online. She helped me learn the power of determination, honesty, hard work, and sleeplessness nights. You can check us out at The Dublin Market every Saturday to see for yourself! She encouraged me to work harder to fight poor circumstances, focus in school, experience discipline through ballet, and most importantly, apply to become a first generation college student. + Through living a busy and bold life, I was able to obtain academic and dance scholarships to attend a top ranking liberal arts school in Ohio, Wittenberg University. While a liberal arts education was expensive, I'll never regret this decision, because Wittenberg encouraged me to hold internships with WWCD CD102.5 Radio Station, Concord Mortgage Group, Integrated Media Corps, Residence Life, and Career Services. I balanced these internships while working both on-campus and part-time jobs, providing academic tutoring, joining a sorority, writing for "The Torch", and volunteering through 4 Paws for Ability. Most days you would've seen me being pulled across campus by the most adorable puppy (in training) with coffee flying through the air, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. + Since graduating college in 2018, post-grad life was great has been a wild ride. From rockin' and rollin' at the radio station, to working for my dear grandmother, landing multiple internships and teaching ballet part-time...I finally landed at another university. I worked as a Communication Strategist at The Ohio State University (go Bucks!) for three years. It was great to work in higher education at a large scale, with clients across the university and community. After 2020 (wow, what a year), I decided I was ready for a change and landed a new job. Back to my mortgage roots, I'm now a Social Media Strategist for Lower.com. Yes, as in Lower.com Field- Home of the Columbus Crew! + I'm lucky that my job utilizes all of my skills and interests. Curious what they may be? My passions are (but not limited to): communication, writing, journalism, copy writing, copy editing, marketing, graphic design, sales, PR, advertising, teaching, dance, art, and media-related fields. + The best part about my life? The best is yet to come. Thanks for reading. - KP |
